Wisdom from Sex and the City:

Family is what you always come home to...sometimes it is the family you were born into, and sometimes it is the family you make for yourself.

I'm gonna miss you girls! You'll never know how much you mean to me. Keep in touch and when I come back to Chicago we'll hit up Steak n' Shake! I love you.

AND THE BOREDOM IS BUSTED (at least temporarily)...

Let me tell you how my boring life at home just got so much better!

Friday: Meera and I head out to Roselle to save Liz from Jessie's birthday party. We show up there and surprise her and give her an excuse to leave. We all head back to the Ryba house for some good old fashioned talks with the crazy ladies - Mrs. Ryba and Aunt Di. Following this unavoidable monstrosity we go to Steak n Shake...of course! While there we see Liz's friend Navid who happens to be Indian (like Meera) and his two Indian friends. We dare Meera to go ask for their numbers (so high school, I know) - and if she does I promised I would buy her meal. She goes over to their table and we all end up staying there another hour talking to these guys. We take Liz back home because her random family decides they want to go to Toronto (who goes to Toronto?). Meera and I head back to good old St. Charles and realize that Meera didnt bring her keys so it is 2:45 am and we are locked out of her house and her whole family is asleep. After trying to break in we call her house, wake up her mom, and then go to sleep for a couple hours.

Saturday: I woke up at 7am and left Meera's and headed to Ian's house. Ian, his brother Joe, and I went downtown Chicago for the day. Kinda pulled a replay of last weekend - Art Institute, Giordano's pizza, random pictures at random stores, movie (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Navy Pier, etc.

Sunday: Tomorrow my dad and I are taking a random road trip...yes my dad and I. I am so totally excited. So yesterday I mentioned that I really just wanted to go to St. Louis to see the Braves play to get out of St. Charles. So my dad calls me today while I was downtown and told me that he lost his golf game so he's out of the tournament he was playing in and wants to leave in the morning and go to St. Louis. How awesome is that??? We dont have tickets so it may turn out to be a bust, but at least we'll get to go have a day out without my mother. Wish me luck on finding tickets!

Okay I'm really glad this weekend has turned out for the best. I was worried that I would die of boredom.

Only 2 weeks until I'm back in Oklahoma! Which means another road trip for my dad and I (without my mom)! Woo hoo!

Thoughts from the late great Mitch Hedberg via Kyle Claypool:

If you can convince an American that they are in Canada, you can get more money for a magazine.

Mr. Pibb is a replica of Dr. Pepper, but it's a bullshit replica, 'cuz the dude didn't even get his degree.

The flap on the inside of the vending machine is a great invention. Before that it was tough times for the vending machine owner. "Hey, which candy bar are you getting?" "That one....and every one on the bottom row!"
